PROF. DR. LAURO VILHENA

BIOGRAPHY
LAURO DE VILHENA BRANDÃO MACHADO NETO, son of Eliezer Cantanhede de Albuquerque Neto and Maria Celeste de Albuquerque, was born on November 4, 1960, in Parnaíba, Piauí, Brazil.
He graduated in Electrical Engineering and received the title of Master of Science - Electrical Engineering from the Federal University of Minas Gerais - UFMG, in 1985 and 1989, respectively.
In 1986, he joined the Department of Electronic Engineering and Telecommunications at the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais - PUC Minas, where he is Adjunct Professor IV and teaches disciplines in the field of Power Electronics. He is Internship Coordinator of the Electronic and Telecommunications Engineering Course since 1994.
In 1996 he worked as a visiting professor at the Automotive Research Center at FIAT Automóveis S.A. in Turin, Italy.
In July 2006 he received the title of Doctor of Science - Agricultural Engineering - Energy, from the Federal University of Viçosa - UFV.
He currently coordinates the Power Electronics and Photovoltaic Systems Laboratories of the Polytechnic Institute of the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais - PUC Minas and has projects in the areas of hybrid and vehicular energy systems.
